Using the winworl Id IBM OS2 Warp 4.0 (ISO) I have been able to install OS/2 on a IBM Aptiva model E2N,
I had problems with finding a network driver and the machine picking a VGA output frequency too high but this was fixed by pressing ALT + F1 when OS/2 appeared in the corner at boot and resetting the Graphics settings.
I am hosting a copy of the now lost hobbes archive at Index of /Pub/hobbes_archive I ask that if you want to host a copy yourself you ask me for a link to a upstream connection, if someone was to download the archive from my site it will cause problem for everyone else.
Another Mirror of Hobbes is http://hobbesarchive.com/ and http://hobbes.applefritter.com/ but neither support secure connections
The Internet archive also has a copy https://archive.org/details/hobbes-os2-archive_202401

I had also used these instructions for partitioning the hard drive before installing, do note that the drive I used was a 1GB compact flash with a IDE converter.
OS/2 does not support SATA to my knowledge.

I cracked the bootable/non bootable issue.
When you first boot select Expert Install > Show FDISK
Press enter on the blank space and select "install bootloader" (this MUST be done first)
Press enter on blank space and create a 500MB partition (any more and you cannot make it bootable)
Press enter on your 500MB partition and select "set installable"
Press enter on your 500MB partition and select "make bootable", enter a name of your choice and hit enter
Press enter on your 1MB Bootloader partition and select "Edit boot settings" then press "D" (for Default) and OS/2 will add the name you entered above to the boot menu
Use the rest of your space as you like
F3 > Save and Exit FDISK

I ran into networking problems, OS/2 was not behaving correctly with PCI NICs so I moved to a old Compaq PC, the specs will be at the bottom of this post.
After installing the correct driver I set the protocol to IBM TCP/IP, when the install is finished I went to LAN settings and changed the router settings to reflect what I had seen in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrG2MUNneHc setting a DEFAULT route after a NET route with the destination set to 10.
If you ever have to work on OS/2 for anything other than a hobby or fun..... may god help you.

For onboard VGA with OS/2, the SNAP Graphics OS/2 driver is a good generic option that works well, especially for older hardware, and supports good 3D support.
Hosted version can be found here: https://ccsproxy.tailb49e7.ts.net/Pub/ho..._3-1-8.zip

I have forgot to mention that OS/2 will reopen any and all appliations that were open at the time of shutdown/crash so I did a lot of looking to find a way to prevent this and here are my results:
input the following in the CONFIG.SYS file
SET RESTARTOBJECTS=STARTUPFOLDERSONLY
Though I believe this is unrelated to the command above I had started to have issues loading the desktop after trying some programs, after booting into the temp. desktop I configured the CONFIG.SYS file again and added the following:
SET DESKTOP=c:\Desktop
and it fixed it with the side effect of the "start" menu doesn't work
This post was sent with OS/2 warp 4 using links graphical
