Exclamation Important Update May 2025
Posted by: corbin - 05-17-2025, 02:05 AM - Forum: Main Forum - No Replies

I have done a server migration from the old machine that this Forum was on to a VM, along with the database. This caused a lot of problems and what you see on this site is the result.

At some point I may be able to fix it. but currently it does not like me.

I may end up replacing /OpenKM with Media Wiki using tables, It will take longer to make pages but in the long term it will scale better.

OpenKM has been hard to work with in the backend.

Media Wiki is planned to be coming to CCS March 2025.

News April 30th
Server 80% Full
The Archive server is 80% full, this can be a problem in the near future as I continue to archive drivers, software, and documentation.
Not all the bits of software archived are public facing simply because I haven't made notes or Index.txt edit for it.

I am considering seperating drivers, software, OS's, Mirrors, and documentation to its own servers, but currently the server is just a old computer running file copies between drives.

Scaling up this archive will be costly for me out of pocket, and I am the only maintainer.

Here is the goal plan

===Software server===

--Categorized by use-case/type
--Use the Index.txt format until a graphic or more user friendly text mode interface is made
--

===Driver server===

--Use the Index.txt format until a graphic or more user friendly text mode interface is made

===Documentation database=== (Could likely just reuse the existing machine with some configuration changes)

--Use the Index.txt format until a graphic or more user friendly text mode interface is made

  Current Drivers available
Posted by: corbin - 03-26-2025, 06:34 PM - Forum: General - No Replies

Available at:
Index of /Pub/Drivers

I am sorry there is not a very good way of searching them, I did my best with index files and descriptions.

I do want to make a searchable front end but I do not have the development knowledge required to do so.

I do have a existing SQL database that can be used.

Also I am willing to look at requests for mirrors - PLEASE ASK FIRST.

  IBM OS/2 Thread
Posted by: corbin - 03-21-2025, 02:39 AM - Forum: Knowledge Database - Replies (8)

Using the winworlId IBM OS2 Warp 4.0 (ISO) I have been able to install OS/2 on a IBM Aptiva model E2N,
I had problems with finding a network driver and the machine picking a VGA output frequency too high but this was fixed by pressing ALT + F1 when OS/2 appeared in the corner at boot and resetting the Graphics settings.
I am hosting a copy of the now lost hobbes archive at  Index of /Pub/hobbes_archive I ask that if you want to host a copy yourself you ask me for a link to a upstream connection, if someone was to download the archive from my site it will cause problem for everyone else.

Another Mirror of Hobbes is http://hobbesarchive.com/ and http://hobbes.applefritter.com/ but neither support secure connections

The Internet archive also has a copy https://archive.org/details/hobbes-os2-archive_202401

  Public Archive

I have been archiving software, drivers, documentation, and etc.
I am very bad at organizing all this in a way that makes it easy to understand.
The public site is  Index of /Pub and there are more things I want to add to it but at the moment I am unsure about adding more until I get a good way to sort and organize it all.

Advice and help is very welcome.

  My Windows 2000 Boot issues
Posted by: corbin - 03-19-2025, 04:00 AM - Forum: Knowledge Database - Replies (3)

After unplugging and replunging my computer in windows stopped booting and gave a blue screen for boot device not readable or something along those lines.

After hours of finagling and trying to reinstall only to get the same error even when the drive has been disconnected, I have discovered the BIOS defaults the drive controller to SATA instead of IDE, Windows 2000 NEEDS the IDE selected as the controller in order to function.

If you have the same issue I urge you to check your drive controller in BIOS/UEFI.

Hello,

This Bulletin Board was never really used as its original purpose so it is getting repurposed, and will now be used for various use cases, including but not limited to storing knowledge on technical issues and solutions.

This is a interactive forum and everyone is encouraged to contribute and ask questions, we all learn together and from each-other here.

Recommendations are highly encouraged.

While there is no formal rules yet, I ask that you use morals and ethics to guide you and that we all keep it professional, when possible.

Information System Update 7/6/2024
Posted by: corbin - 07-05-2024, 07:13 PM - Forum: Main Forum - No Replies

A 1TB give or take RAID has been created on a dedicated machine coined as CCSdatabase consisting of two identical 1TB HDD and a serial PCI RAID Controller card, this machine is will ensure there is no data loss when it comes to text data and accounts.

Images are yet to begin getting backed up, as it is only 1TB I am reluctant to Backup large amounts of photos and it will take up large amounts of storage.

Currently team photos are in 3 known places: on the website (albeit currently not active, they are still in the files), my personal PC x2, and a external Drive that has been floating around my room.

Due to this machine being my primary backup server there will be no access to it from the internet, tailscale will not be installed on it, and there will be no web interfaces or admin panels on the backup server, all control over it will have to be done on location from its primary terminal.

Any comments on this possess and how I approached this are very welcome as well as suggestions.

Thank you.
