OVERVIEW
_______________________________________________________________________

DTSetup installs DragText v3.9 and can be used to selectively
reinstall or remove it. The author recommends that you always
create a new directory for each new version of DragText.

IMPORTANT: Your DragText installation path can not include spaces.

Upgrading from Previous Versions
--------------------------------
Do NOT uninstall your current version of DT; just be sure to install
v3.9 in a new directory. If your current version is loaded, or if
DTFile or DTClip are installed, DTSetup should be able to copy most
of your settings to the new version.

Restoring Your Previous Version
-------------------------------
Use this version of DTSetup to uninstall v3.9. *Reboot*, then
run the copy of DTSetup found in your previous version's DragText
directory (e.g. "C:\DRGTXT38").

Sharing a DragText Installation
-------------------------------
If you use multiple versions of Warp, they can share all a single
copy of DragText. Running DTSetup from your DragText directory
under a different version of Warp will create objects and register
classes without copying any files. Settings which are specific
to a particular boot-drive (e.g. search paths) will be stored
separately in drgtxt39.ini. Other options will be shared across
all installations.

INSTALL
_______________________________________________________________________

The main window displays your options for installing DragText.

Install Paths
-------------
The default Source path is the directory containing DTSetup.
DTSetup expects to find all of its files in this directory.

The default Destination path is a subdirectory on your boot
drive named \DRGTXT39. You can change this to any new or
existing directory, including the source directory, provided
that the complete pathname contains *no* spaces.

Note: DTSetup can only create one new subdirectory.

Startup Options
---------------
DTSetup always creates a program object for DragText v3.9 and
places it on your Desktop. It offers three ways to load DragText.
This setting can be changed at any time from the 'Setup' page
of DT's Options notebook.

- autoload during boot
The system will load DT shortly after it goes into graphics
mode, ensuring all programs are DT-enabled. DTSetup will
put an entry in os2.ini (SYSDLLS->LoadPerProcess).
- WPS Startup folder
DTSetup will create a program object specifically intended
    for your Startup folder.
- manually
Load DT when you're ready by doubleclicking on your Desktop
    DragText object.

Unneeded entries and objects will be deleted if you later choose
a different startup option using DTSetup or DT's Options notebook.

Note: If your Startup folder contains a program object for
DragText that you created, you will probably have to delete
it yourself. DTSetup will only delete a program object if
    it's object ID is <DT_START> or <DT_STARTUP>.

Workplace Shell Classes
-----------------------
You can choose not to install the three WPS classes DragText uses
to provide some of its features. To fully appreciate this version,
let DTSetup install them. You can remove or reinstall these classes
at any time using DragText's Options Notebook.

Install
-------
Press the Install button when you have made your choices.
DTSetup will:

- rename the files and move them to the destination directory;
only the original zip file will remain in the source directory
- install the Startup Option of your choice
- create a program object for DragText whose ID is <DT_DESKTOP>
- install the DTFile, DTClip, and DTProgram classes and create
a DTClip object on the Desktop
- place entries in your OS2.INI file to disable DragText for
programs that are known to be incompatible with it
- place entries in your OS2.INI file to reenable DragText for
some programs that are known to override it
- display some general information about DragText

DTSetup will advise you if it completes successfully. When you
finish reading the information window, you can press its Close
button and DTSetup will exit.

If DTSetup encounters errors, it will also advise you. Pressing
the message window's OK button will return you to the main window
in case the error is something you can correct.

AFTER INSTALLATION
_______________________________________________________________________

After a successful installation, you can load DragText v3.9 and
use it immediately, provided you do not have an earlier version
already running. If so, you may have to remove the old version's
program object from your Startup folder if you created it yourself.
When you're ready, restart your system.

Be sure to run DragText a second time to display its Options notebook
so you can become familiar with its many features and view its online
help.

Command line option
-------------------
DragText normally saves its INI file in the same directory as its
EXE. If this is inappropriate for your system, you can specify a
different directory. The best way to do this is from the Setup->Paths
page of DT's Options notebook. However, you can also specify a new
path as a command-line parameter. You only need to do this once
because DT will save the path and use it until you explicitly specify
another one.

Note: All of DragText's primary files (*.exe, *.dll, *.hlp, etc.)
MUST remain together in a single directory. It will not work
properly if you place them in separate directories.

UNINSTALL
_______________________________________________________________________

To remove DragText partially or completely, press the Uninstall button
on the main window. The Uninstall window will appear, containing check
boxes for the seven items which DTSetup can remove from your system.
Only those items which DTSetup can locate will be checked. They are:

- Startup Options: the entry in in OS2.INI which supports "autoload
during boot" and DT's object in the Startup folder will be deleted.
If you select 'Program Files' (below), these options will always be
removed regardless of whether this is checked.

- Desktop Object: the Desktop program object for DragText that DTSetup
created during installation. If you deleted it and later created
a new one, DTSetup will not be able to locate it; you will have to
  delete it yourself.

- Entries in OS2.INI: this is always checked, even if there are none.

- DTFile WPS class: if you had this installed, DTSetup will deregister
this class. It will probably remain in memory until you reboot.

- DTClip WPS class: if you had this installed, DTSetup will deregister
this class and destroy the DTClip object it created. It may remain
  in memory until you reboot.

- DTProgram WPS class: if it is installed, DTSetup will deregister
this class. It will probably remain in memory until you reboot.

- Program Files: this includes all of DragText's executables and
documentation that are in the same directory as DTSetup. If this
directory is empty after these deletions, it will be deleted too.
DTSetup will not delete any files that you have created nor will
it delete the original zip file.

DTSetup will advise you whether it was successful in removing the
items listed above. If you choose to delete all files, DTSetup will
delete itself. If the directory it was in is now empty, it will
delete that too.

IMPORTANT
---------
After uninstalling DragText, you MUST reboot before you attempt to
reinstall it.
