1.0  Overview
=============

Some SCSI device drivers report incorrect geometry for media in partitioned
removable devices (such as ZIP drives). In addition to some of the media
space being unusable, the Logical Volume Manager (LVM) considers
the partitions on the media to be corrupt, and media prepared on non-SCSI
attached devices may not be readable.

This IBMRSCSI filter corrects the geometry reported by the device driver,
if required, insuring that all space is reachable and that LVM considers
the partitions valid.

1.1 The IBMRSCSI.EXE file that you received contains the following 3
     files in a self-extracting compressed format.

        - README.TXT This file that you are reading
        - IBMRSCSI.FLT SCSI Removable Devices Filter Device Driver
        - IBMRSCSI.DDP Device driver profile file

2.0 SCSI Removable Devices Filter Device Driver Installation Instructions
==========================================================================

2.1 To use these IBMRSCSI filter files, you must expand the IBMRSCSI.EXE file into
     its 3 component files by
        (a.) opening an OS/2 window and
        (b.) typing IBMRSCSI at the OS/2 command prompt.
     Once the IBMRSCSI.EXE file is expanded, please continue with the
     SCSI Removable Devices Filter Device Driver Install.

2.2  Filter Device Driver Install
      o (Warp 3, Warp Server) Open the Device Driver Install program
          in the OS/2 System Folder/System Setup Folder.

      o (Warp 4, Warp Server for e-business) Open the Device Driver
          Install program in the OS/2 System/System Setup/Install-Remove
          Folder.

2.3 Change Source directory to current (where component files reside) by pressing
    "Change..." button.

2.4 Press "Install..." button to perform actual installation and "Exit" button
    installtion utility.

2.5 This completes the installation procedure. You must now REBOOT you system
    to initialize the SCSI Removable Devices Filter Device Driver support.

3.0 SCSI Removable Devices Filter Device Driver Un-Install Instructions
========================================================================

3.1 Delete from CONFIG.SYS file lines configuring IBMRSCSI.FLT
     (line starting with BASEDEV=IBMRSCSI.FLT) and file
     IBMRSCSI.FLT from \os2\boot directory.

3.2 Safely shut down and then re-boot your system in order to remove the
     SCSI Removable Devices Filter Device Driver from the system configuration.

4.0  Requirements
=================

4.1  Hardware
     SCSI Removable Devices Filter Device Driver designed to work with all SCSI
     removable devices. Tests were performed for the following devices:

     SCSI Adapters :

      Adaptec AHA2940
      Buslogic FlashPoint LT
      Adaptec SlimSCSI 1460D (PCMCIA SCSI adapter)
      LSI Logic SYM22902

     SCSI Removable Devices :
      IOMEGA SCSI ZIP250 drive
      IOMEGA JAZZ drive
      SyQuest SQ3270S 270MB drive

4.2  Software

      IBMRSCSI filter device driver for SCSI removable device does not require
      any additional components to be installed.

      Please use the latest SCSI device drivers available for your SCSI adapters.

5.0  Configuration parameters
=============================

IBMRSCSI.FLT supports only verbose mode parameters :

/V - verbose mode. If this parameter is specified, IBMRSCSI displays information
 about devices accepted for filtering.

/W - verbose wait mode. If this parameter is specified, filter displays
same information as for /V parameter and waits for user to press any key with
message "Press any key to continue...".

NOTE: If IBMRSCSI.FLT displays vendor and product ids as "UNKNOWN",
device is accepted for filtering as default device - IOMEGA ZIP100.
That guarantees that geometry problem (see Overview) will be fixed
even if filter failed to recognize device type.
