OVERVIEW:

Check+ (pronounced 'Check Plus') is an OS/2 financial management
program for the home and small business. It is written specifically
for OS/2 and takes full advantage of the power that OS/2 provides.
It requires OS/2 2.x or OS/2 Warp.

The demonstration program is a full working copy of the program
except that it only allows a total of 50 transactions across all
accounts. To help you get started, the demonstration program
starts off with some sample data already entered.

Complete online documentation is available from within the program
by selecting the 'Help Contents' option under the 'Help' menu.

To install the demonstration program run INSTALL.CMD.

This demo may be freely copied and distributed providing the program
is not modified in any way and the copyright notices are not removed
or modified.

USING MULTIPLE BOOKS

If you want to keep multiple sets of books (e.g., a set of data
for personal use and a separate set of data for business use)
you can do so by following the procedure above to store the
program in a separate directory from the data. You can then
create additional Check+ icons for each set of books. On the
Settings page of each icon set the Path And File Name to the
path where the program CHECKING.EXE is stored and set the
Working Directory to the path where you want your data to
be stored.

CHANGING WINDOW COLORS & SAVING WINDOW SIZES

Check+ will allow you to change the background color of some
windows. To change a color, drag and drop a new color from the OS/2
Color Palette onto the window you wish to change then close the
window to save the new color. If you want to reset the window to its
standard color, drag and drop the color Black onto the window and then
close the window. The next time you open the window it will have
the standard color again.

The following windows can have their colors changed:
	The Check+ Main window
The Transaction Browse, Allocation Browse, and DepositItem
windows (these windows must always use the same color)
All other windows must have the same color

Check+ will also remember the size and position of the Check+ Main
Window and will set it to the same size and position each time you
start the program. It also remembers the position of the split bar
in the payment prompter list.

STARTUP OPTIONS

If you do not want the initial logo to display while the program is
loading, start Check+ with the /NOLOGO option.

If you want to reset all window colors and sizes to their standard
settings you can start Check+ with the /NOPROFILE argument. This
argument will also cause all the User Options to return to their initial
settings.

PROBLEM WITH OS/2 2.1 WITHOUT SERVICE PACK

If you are using OS/2 2.1 without the service pack installed the
program may crash when you use the right mouse button to display
the popup menu associated with a list. To avoid this problem install
the service pack or display the popup menu by clicking on the Mouse
Button Icon instead.

PROBLEM WHEN PRINTING CHECKS TO AN HP LASERJET 4 PLUS

If you are printing Laser Checks (3 per page) to an HP Laserjet 4 Plus
you may encounter a problem when printing a partial page of checks
in Landscape/Left or Landscape/Centered mode. Due to a bug in
the HP printer driver, text after a slash will not show up. This usually
causes the date of the check and the written amount to print incorrectly.
The problem only occurs when using the HP Laserjet 4 Plus printer
driver in 600 dpi resolution. To circumvent this problem change the
resolution (under Job Properties) to 300 dpi. HINT: You can define a
second printer as "HP4 Plus 300dpi" which prints to the same HP4
Plus printer but has its default Job Properties set to 300 dpi instead of
600. Use this second printer when printing checks and the standard
printer when printing reports.
