32 bit OS/2 software for Warp 3.x and 4.x

======What is Little Digital Talking Clock?=====
Little Digital Talking Clock is a 32 bit OS/2 program. It requires OS/2
Warp 3.x or Warp 4.x. It has NOT been tested on OS/2 2.1.

LDTC is a simple digital clock that can either announce the time in a
synthesized voice, announce the time in a user supplied voice, chime at
regular intervals with any .wav file, or be used without sound at all.

LDTC has a small set of features (right click the mouse on the clock for
a settings dialog) to customize the clock for individual tastes. You can
size it, set fonts, set color, set to analog or digital, set chime or
announce intervals, set volume, show seconds, show date, freeze position,
float to the top, or start minized. You can even set your computers date
and time with LDTC without having to go to a command line session or visit
your cmos settings in the bios.

LDTC is SHAREWARE and is NOT free. Feel free to try LDTC and if you think
it is worth it please register. See registration information at the end
of this file.

======Installing and setting up LDTC=====
To install LDTC just copy all the files to a directory (folder) on your hard
drive and put a shadow or program object on your desktop or launchbar for
LDTC.EXE.

Double click on the LDTC icon to activate the program. LDTC will appear as
a small single rectangular digital clock in the lower left corner of your
desktop. LDTC will create the file ldtc.ini in the directory where you
installed it. This is where all the settings and customizations are stored.

Moving LDTC is done with mouse button 1 (left).

Resizing LDTC can be done with the mouse just like any normal resizeable
window

Right click once on LDTC to bring up the Settings page. The following
sections describe in detail the different settings and choices for LDTC.

NOTE : Most settings do NOT take place until the settings dialog is closed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

======Shareware Bug Screen=====
Every time you start Little Digital Talking Clock a Shareware screen appears
to remind you to register. When you register you receive a letter of
registration (either e-mail or regular mail) that gives you the Code word to
get rid of the Shareware screen.

***REGISTERED USERS OF NFNF or DESKTOP WIZARD recive this application FREE
and can use their SAME code phrase for LDTC. LDTC has dual registration code
words. One code word is for those who register LDTC by itself and the other
code word is the same as Desktop Wizard and NFNF. Enter the Code phrase in
the Optional parameters field of the Program tab on the settings page for each
icon you use for LDTC.

======Settings for LDTC : Clock Window=====
INTERVAL : This sets the interval for how often the clock announces or chimes
per hour. It can be set to do so at 1, 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minute intervals.

ANNOUNCE ON : This choice is checked if you want the clock to announce the
time using the supplied .wav files (synthesized voice). If Announce is
checked then the chime file selection is automatically de-selected. LDTC will
either chime a single .wav file at the set intervals or announce the time. It
can not do both at the same time. The .wav files can be replaced with other
user supplied versions. See section below on custom .wav files.

FLOAT TO TOP : When this is checked LDTC will always float on top of any
other window or application when they occupy the same desktop area.

START MIN. : This will allow starting LDTC minimized. This is in case a user
wants the audio portion of LDTC running but does not require or desire to see
the visual part.

CHIME FILE : When this is selected (AND a .wav file is entered in the entry
box to the right of it) LDTC will chime (play) the .wav file at the selected
intervals. The .wav file entered in the entry field should be fully qualified
(include path and complete file name). Selecting chime file will
automatically de-select the Announce on feature.

TEST VOL. : The volume control can be set from 0 to 10. This represents
actual percentages (0 - 100%) of the volume you have set for the system.
The level for the clock can be tested with the push button before closing
the settings dialog.

OK : Pressing the OK button will close the settings dialog box and save the
current settings. It will NOT close the application.

CLOSE APP : Pressing the Close App button will also save the current settings
and close the settings dialog but it will ALSO close the application.

CANCEL : Pressing the Cancel button will close the settings dialog and NOT
save any changes made to the settings. It will NOT close the application.

MINIMIZE APP. : Pressing the Minimize button will minimize the application
and close the settings dialog.

SET COMPUTER CLOCK : Pressing this button will bring up a dislog box with
6 sets of spin buttons. The top set of 3 spin buttons are used to set the
day/month/year with. The bottom 3 are to set hours/minutes/seconds with.
Pressing the OK button saves the time you have set in the spin buttons
and closes the dialog. The system time is changed immediately after closing
this dialog. Pressing Cancel closes the dialog without saving any changes.
The hours spin button is set for 24 hour time.

FONT : Pressing this button will execute an instance of the system Font
Palette. Change fonts by selecting and draging and dropping a font on the
small static time display just above the Font button on the settings dialog.
The changes to the ACTUAL clock window won't take place until the settings
dialog is closed and the settings saved. Do NOT drop the font on the ACTUAL
clock window. It won't hurt anything but the setting won't be saved. AFTER
changing fonts it may be necessary or desirable to resize the clock window
when the settings dialog is closed.

Palette. Change FOREGROUND colors by holding down on the CTRL key and
dragging and dropping a color on the small static display time just above
the Color button on the settings dialog. To change BACKGROUND colors just
drag and drop without using any keys. The changes to the ACTUAL clock
window won't take place until the settings dialog is closed and the settings
saved. Do NOT drop the color on the ACTUAL clock window. It won't hurt
anything but the settings won't be saved.

DISPLAY DATE PANEL : When this is selected AND after the settings dialog is
closed the Date window will appear in the LOWER LEFT corner of the desktop.
The date window has a settings page of it's own for customization.

FREEZE POSITION : This will freeze the position of the clock window so it
can NOT accidentally be moved.

NO SECONDS DISPLAY : Check this to NOT have the seconds display on the
clock window.

ANALOG : This will display in the clock window an analog clock instead of a
digital one.

DIGITAL (AM/PM) : This will display in the clock window a digital clock in
12 hour a.m./p.m. style.

======Custom .wav files=====
The digital voice in Little Digital Talking Clock was created with RSYNTH -
a freeware speech synthesizer for OS/2 by Nick Ing-Simmons.

LDTC uses 34 .wav files for the synthesized voice that announces the time.
These files can be replaced with ANY .wav files of the same name. You can
make your own personal version with your own voice. You could even create
your own sets and market them as plug ins for LDTC.
